Future 28,000 Sq. Ft. Kinship Community Food Center to Help Address Food Desert Crisis in Milwaukee
Over the last few years, Carvd N Stone has reported on the lack of access to fresh food and grocery stores in Milwaukee while providing resources and solutions. We’re back again with another resource that’s coming to the city to fight against the food desert crisis. On July 15, 2026, nonprofit Kinship MKE broke ground on its 28,000-square-foot Kinship Community Food Center.
The Kinship Community Food Center is an extension of Kinship and will be located at Holton and Locust.
Kinship (formerly the Riverwest Food Pantry) fights hunger, poverty, and isolation through serving five zip codes across the City of Milwaukee. It provides free fresh produce, a working urban farm, workforce job training, and a sit-down café on Martin Luther King Drive located at Thrive On King.
